History
Maple Groves first residents were the Winnebago Indians. Moved from Wisconsin to current day Maple Grove by the federal Governement. The first European settlers were Louis Gervais and Pierre Bottineau, who staked their claims in 1851.

The first school was set up in 1858, the teacher was Delos Hawkins teaching out of a vacant building. The first schoolbuilding was built in the early 1860s located at Territorial Road and Ranchview Lane. In 1887 a new school house was built. And to this day it still stands. The Osseo Alcoholics Anonymous use it for their meetings.

Maple Grove saw little growth in its early days. In 1880 the population was 1,155 in 1950 it was 1,778. In the late ’50s urban sprawl came to Maple Grove and with the construction of I-94 Maple Grove had a population boom. In 1990 population was at 38,746 by the end of 2005 it was over 55,000.
